According to the international interest to improve the educational quality of institutional systems, the article focuses on the assertion that this only will be achieved through the translation into curricular design and all of its elements of changes, innovations and reforms necessary to this purpose. Therefore, after defining what must be an adequate educational quality for society in present and close future, the paper addresses the various elements of the curriculum (competences, objectives, contents, methodology and, assessment) and makes concrete proposals for modifications in the approach to them which, according to the author, are essential to achieve that improvement of quality we all desire and propose.
