Abstract
This research examines the theoretical and methodological contributions from the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The first part is a review of various studies that have applied this technique to the education sector;in this segment we will characterize the Educational Index (EI). A second section performs a contextualization of the system of basic education in the State of Michoacán and we study the levels of the EI existing in Michoacán. Third part is the implementation of the DEA methodology to 9 selected municipalities, relating it to the levels of EI. Finally show the findings to arrive at the Studio.
