This article addresses the issue of school absenteeism, dealing with some approaches, strategies and actions that any school should take into account in order to prevent it or to act on it as soon as possible. The first part deals with how the actions to be taken can be mainly focused on the truant student or the school and the different aspects of how it works, as well as -in parallel- can have a preventive role or, rather, palliative. In the second part deals with four aspects that should be considered at schools to address this matter: 1) Agreeing in the register mode and non-attendance control, 2) establishing rules about school assistance and consequences of non-assistance, 3) making improvements that promote a bigger school engagement and attachment of the student, and 4) cultivating and keeping constant and fruitful relationships with the families.
