Educational equity is a key component for the development of quality education aimed to the educational success of all. In the definition provided by the OECD (2007), educational equity is made up of two dimensions: inclusive education and fairness. There are many dilemmas, controversies and implications generated by this characterization. For this reason, and due to unclear use that often takes place around equity and, with the intention to help throw some light on the academico debate about the definition of educational equity, in this paper a set of arguments are showed. A descriptive study based on hermeneutical approach with a theoretical sample about relevant sources information was carried out. The result is a unified characterization of equity as inclusion, fairness and cohesive diversity as a basis of educational success for all.
