Natural Sciences and its Technology for the Integral Formation of Teaching Staff.
A Practical Study

Abstract

We study pre-service primary teacher education in the field of science and technology, exploring approaches for its improvement through action-research. Our work was developed during a year long course of “Methodology of Teaching of the Natural Sciences”, in a Venezuelan public university. This article presents a description and interpretation of the seven types of activities enacted, considering results obtained. We conclude with a more abstract reflection using five categories-guides of transformative action: theory-practice connections, stimulus of critical reflection and teacher research, the university course as a model “at its level”, the classroom group as a community of learning, and a positively charged relation with science and technology. Our work can illuminate possibilities and alert about needs to fulfill and mistakes to avoid in the preparation of primary teachers in such a relevant field.
