Criteria for Evaluating Classroom Educational Projects which
Includes the Computer

.Abstract
 

In this paper, we present a vision for integrating technology in education.  It focuses on the whole process of teaching and learning, beyond dominant technocentrism. We describe the challenges and major breaks that this vision implies. From that perspective, we study the consequences in order to obtain significant effects on learning by the use of technology and for assessing those effects.

Referring to international studies, we show that transforming teaching practices and quality of learning improvements through the use of technology, is still pending.

We introduce a model to use ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in classroom educational projects including technology and we develop some criteria to evaluate them.

We show how to apply the criteria to three specific projects. Then, we pay special attention to the transformative effect of those projects on teaching practices and how to use technology to enhance this transformation.

Finally, we share some reflections about the evaluation of ICT impact in education, which, inspired us in doing this work.
