Evaluation of a Program to Straighten Learning process based on the use of ICT within the Ecuadorian context

.Abstract
 

The article presents data from a research focused on the evaluation of a program through the use of Information Technology (ICT) as a means of learning in public schools in the Oro Province of Ecuador. This article explains the content, the bases and procedures of the Project, “Mejoramiento de la Calidad de la Educación Pública para el fortalecimiento del Aprendizaje a través de las TIC: De tal palo, tal astilla”, it also describes the methodology used in the research. In this case we opted to use an ethnographic methodology, with case studies of three schools of the "Like father, like son." Data collection was performed through different qualitative techniques: interviews with the management team, ICT coordinators from the center, teachers and classroom observations were made, analysis of institutional documents of the project and schools (curricular Institutional Project, Classroom Scheduling).

The results suggest that ICTs alter the structures of schools at the organizational level, without substantially altering the practices in the classroom. ICT is used as an adjunct in the classroom and computer programs are specifically used as reinforcements for student learning. That is, there is no real integration of ICT into teaching and learning processes.

Finally, of note is the high motivation that students have to learn through ICT.
