Using a Competency Model to Assesment School Principalship |

.Abstract | ||||
Principals are key players for the school to have a good school performance, as well as influencing the teaching-learning process so it is important to gain more understanding about their role. This research focuses on analyzing the aspects that promote the school principals successful performance. A mixed research methodology is used to generate a profile of successful school principal based on literature review and in eight cases of successful principals in Mexico; from the proposed profile a competency model is designed. The competency model has 18 competencies that in the higher scale could be associated with the performance of successful school principal. Exercise of leadership, understanding of school employees and be inclusive of participation of those who make up the school community are among other competencies, included in the proposed model. |
