Joy Doll

Joy Doll graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) and Creighton University graduating with her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD). Upon graduation, Dr. Doll completed a VISTA with AmeriCorp coordinating a volunteer respite program for the Presbyterian Outreach. After her VISTA, Dr. Doll acted as the Coordinator for the Office of Interprofessional Scholarship, Service and Education (OISSE) designing and implementing community engagement activities for students across Creighton University’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. During that time, she began working closely with the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska where she received extensive exposure to children with FASD. Currently, Dr. Doll is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University and the Director of the Post-Professional OTD Program. Dr. Doll has passion for service and grant writing. She has written over 20 grants and is author of the text Grant Writing and Program Development in Occupational Therapy: Making the Connection by Jones and Bartlett. Dr. Doll is currently a member of the Omaha Nation Community Response Team; member of the Nebraska Diabetes Consensus Guidelines Task Force, along with remaining active with a variety of other community organizations/groups including the Omaha and Winnebago Nations. Her research interests include service-learning, Native American health, FASD, international occupational therapy, public health, home safety, and neuro-occupation. Dr. Doll teaches courses in grant writing, neuro-occupation and professional development for post-professional OTD students.
