Education, Democracy and Social Justice
Up to the analysis of
Social Justice concept, this article underpins
the significance of having more (and better)
democracy based on the necessity to fight
against increasing injustice and oppression.
However, depending on how democracy is
understood is how democratic education is
envisaged and, if we move in this direction, we
must be clear about what these implicit
assumptions are. To this end, the article
presents the theories of democracy Jürgen
Habermas, Chantal Mouffe and Jacques Rancière,
and correspondence with the principles of
democratic education of Amy Gutmann, Claudia
Ruitenberg and Gert Biesta is established. This
is promoting a fair education for Social
Justice, critical and essentially democratic.
