  Abstract

Phratry between siblings is a relationship that is built through years based on experiences lived by each family group; in this context, the objective of this current study was to describe the lived experiences in phratry by oldest siblings in relation to a sibling with disability. The investigation was based on a qualitative paradigm with a collective study of cases; those situations referred to siblings of students from a special school from the commune of La Unión, Los Ríos Region, Chile. The obtained results permit to elucidate that oldest siblings show great preoccupation for their siblings with disability both in the present as in the future; in relation with emotions, the most highlighted one was happiness, not being the only one but the one with highest predominance. With reference to the relationship to their parents, they explain it as positive and in general, with no big differences.
