  Abstract

The debate about the effective educational model to develop the concept of “inclusion” in deaf students has always been and is still nowadays especially controversial. Inevitably, language and identity issues emerge as central points needing extensive consideration. In this paper the educational models that exist are analyzed, setting out that the important question is the capacity of educational system to find solutions adapted to the characteristics of deaf students that will allow them to develop linguistically, socially, emotionally and academically. In this sense, several indicators are suggested that characterize educational programs to achieve the inclusion of these students.
